Dear Parents,

As the school year comes to an end, I want to wish you and your family a relaxing and enjoyable summer. I am looking forward to meeting you and teaching your children in fifth grade.

Please encourage your children to read during the summer. Please refer to their summer reading list for required books and book reports. Try to keep their minds as active as their bodies by suggesting activities like reading a map, estimating a distance, or writing in a journal about their summer activities.

During the summer, you may purchase the following:
- clear contact paper
- small pair of scissors
- black pens
- red pens
- highlighter
- small stapler
- small box of crayons
- glue and glue stick
- pencils
- pencil case (no boxes)
- 12" plastic ruler

I ask that you wait until September to buy copybooks, folders, theme tablets at school. The first day of school the children will receive a list of exactly what they need to buy.

I hope this summer gives your family a chance to be refreshed and to enjoy each other's special gifts.
