Parish Mission Statement

WE, the parishioners of St. Eugene Church in Primos, in communion with the Holy Father, shepherd of the universal Church, and our Archbishop Justin Cardinal Rigali, proclaim to everyone the good news that Jesus Christ is the Light of the world who offers to all who follow Him the light of life.

AS members of the Christian Community, baptized into Jesus Christ, we desire to share this Light with those with whom we come into contact. Confident of our call, we as a community proclaim, as Jesus did, the words of Isaiah the Prophet:

The Spirit of the Lord has been given to us for He has annointed us. He has sent us to bring the good news to the poor. To proclaim liberty to captives and to the blind new sight; to set the downtrodden free, to proclaim the Lords year of favor.

Is. 61:1-2

WE, therefore, commit ourselves to the following:

w To nurture the "Spirit of the Lord which has been given to us" through frequent participation in the CELEBRATION of the Eucharist, the Sacraments, and Communal Prayer.

w To deepen and cultivate that SPIRITUALITY with which "we have been annointed" by adding to our structural worshiping services daily personal prayer and frequent communal devotions, reflective and instructional opportunities.

w To provide a warm, welcoming spirit of HOSPITALITY where the Good News which "we have been sent to bring," can be easily proclaimed and heard, spoken and shared. We attempt to create within our parish a home in which all, especially the poor, the sick, and the stranger can find joy, peace, and rest.

w To attempt to "set the downtrodden free" through habitual communal and personal acts of charity and SERVICE particularly to the poor and needy both within the parish, in our church and in our world.

w To proclaim at all times "the Lord's year of favor" a time of RECONCILIATION by working together for justice and peace in our hearts, in our homes, in our parish, in our church and in our world.

WE ask our Lord to help us accomplish this mission and to guide us in the successful completion of our endeavors through the intercession of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, to whose care the Archdiocese is consecrated and through St. Eugene, patron of our parish.
